Steps to Install OpenShot Video Editor on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
Here we are using Flatpak method to install OpenShot on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS because the package we get from the APT package manager throws an error after installing the video editor. Also, the steps given here can be used on other versions of Ubuntu and Linux based on it, such as Linux Mint, Elementary OS, and POP_OS.
1. Perform a system update
Let’s start by using the APT package manager and perform the system update. It refreshes the APT package index cache and installs the latest security updates.
sudo apt update && sudo apt update
2. Install Flatpack
We don’t need to manually add a third-party repository for packages to install Flatpak; it’s already there on the standard Ubuntu repository. so, let’s install it:
sudo apt install flatpak
3. Add a Flathub repository
To get software packages installed through Flatpak, add its repository called Flathub. This will give us access to hundreds of open source application packages.
flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
4. Restart your system
After adding the repository, reboot your system to make sure the Flapak was successfully integrated into our Ubuntu 22.04.
5. Get OpenShot on Ubuntu 22.04
After reboot, open your system command terminal again and use Flatpak command line to install OpenShot on your Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
flatpak install flathub org.openshot.OpenShot
6. Run the open source video editor
Once the installation is complete, we can run the application either using the command terminal using the given command:
flatpak run org.openshot.OpenShot
Alternatelygo to the app launcher and search for Open airsoon in the search result you will find the icon of this application, click on it to run it.
