Marilyn Manson pleads not guilty to assaulting a videographer

Marilyn Manson’s attorneys have pleaded not guilty to two counts of common assault in New Hampshire, Deadline reports.

As first reported in May, Manson reportedly spat at a videographer during a 2019 concert at the Bank of NH Pavilion in Gilford, NH. The videographer had been “contracted out by a company based in New Hampshire” to record the show.

Manson surrendered to the Los Angeles Police Department under an agreement between New Hampshire officials and Manson’s attorney on Friday, July 2. The singer was then released on personal bail.

The conditions for his release include:

  • He cannot commit any crime during his release.
  • He cannot have any contact with the alleged victim.
  • He must appear at all of his hearings.

In May, after the singer’s initial arrest warrant was issued, his attorney, Howard King, denied the charges:

“It’s no secret that anyone who has attended a Marilyn Manson concert that he likes to be provocative on stage, especially in front of a camera. This tort complaint was continued after we received a request from a local videographer for over $ 35,000 after a small amount of saliva came in contact with their arm. After asking for evidence of alleged damage, we never received a response. This whole claim is ridiculous, but we remain committed to cooperating with the authorities, as we have done throughout. “

Video of the incident can be viewed below.

If convicted, Manson faces up to a year in prison and a $ 2,000 fine.

The assault charges in New Hampshire are probably the least of Manson’s concerns at the moment, as he is also currently being sued by several ex-girlfriends for sexual assault, sexual violence, intentional assault of emotional distress, human trafficking. human rights and illegal imprisonment, among other charges.

Manson made his first public appearance since the allegations surfaced last week, joining Kanye West on stage at an event promoting the rapper’s new album, Donda. Manson would also have lent his voice to this record.

Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood – the shock rocker’s ex-fiancée and the woman who started the barrage of accusations against him – responded to Manson / Kanye’s news by performing a cover of New’s “Get What You Give” Radicals at a Hollywood nightclub, flipping the bird over when the lyrics refer to the singer. She then dedicated the performance to “my fellow survivors who were slapped in the face this week”.
