Microsoft acquires online video editor Clipchamp

Microsoft today announced the acquisition of Clipchamp, a browser-based video creation startup founded in Brisbane, Australia. Clipchamp was launched in 2013 by former SAP employees Alexander Dreiling, David Hewitt, Soeren Balko and Tobias Raub. The company’s platform combines a web application with hardware acceleration, allowing users to create videos with templates, filters, styles, transitions, and storage media in a multitrack audio and video editor. Clipchamp offers built-in sharing tools for social media, offering output styles and proportions for networks like Twitter, Pinterest, and Facebook. And it supports Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, and OneDrive, allowing users to sync projects across different devices and the cloud.
