Pittsburgh brides are still waiting for footage from the videographer

The marriage boom is here. After pandemic postponements and cancellations, 2022 will be one of the most popular years for weddings in nearly 40 years. While that’s cause for celebration, Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 spoke with a group of brides who say the pandemic wasn’t the challenge, but instead their videographer. Over the past two months, more than a dozen brides have come forward to share their experiences. While some chose to say anonymous, others agreed to go on camera. I mean, I would have loved to come back to it, and when you plan it, you wonder if I really need a videographer? Now that I would have been able to have it, and that I don’t, it’s sad…I probably should have done more research, but I didn’t,” Amber McMurray told The Pittsburgh Wedding Community Facebook group has over 32,000 members. It’s a support group for couples planning a wedding, newlyweds and salespeople. Founder Jodi Colella said Film Shockers was on their radar in 2020 after dozens brides have complained.” We try to give them the benefit of the doubt, we don’t get involved between the couple and the seller, but when several people kept saying I didn’t get my stuff back, how can i get my deposit back, there was a lot of stuff, we decided to remove them from the group” , Colella said. Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 took the complaints to Film Shockers chief cinematographer Brandon Carter. He says his family owns the business. He did not deny the allegations. “We have hundreds of wedding videos that we shot in 2020 and 2021 combined, so we got big too fast…the fact that some of them wait up to a year, it’s just frustrating in self,” Carter said. But Carter blamed outside contractors for not getting the job done. People he says he had to hire because Film Shockers didn’t have enough employees working during the pandemic. “We should have just given them their money back, said, “Hey, we’re not going to use contractors, but contractors, we thought they were good. They had great portfolios,” Carter said. When Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 first interviewed Carter, he said there were only a handful of couples who hadn’t received their 2021 raw footage. Right after the interview, he stretched hand saying it was closer to fourteen. On the same day, Film Shockers posted a message on Facebook saying, “It has come to our attention that some couples have not received their RAW footage. . If you haven’t received your RAW footage, please message us ASAP so we can send it straight away!” We apologize to everyone,” Carter said. But since then, McMurray says she still hasn’t received her raw footage, even though she spoke to Carter and emailed him the same address again to “get anything from him,” McMurray said. As for Bizick, she just got her raw footage on Friday after we spoke to Carter, but says she’s missing key moments from the reception among other night, and it’s never there,” Bizick said. Bizick is not alone. “I always say they are my daughters, and I protect them, and it breaks my heart,” Colella said. “For us to work so hard for this, it’s very disappointing. and very upsetting not being able to get service that we paid for,” Bizick said. “We weren’t even going to hire a videographer, just for financial reasons, but we did, and we saved that money to hire a videographer just because it’s once in a lifetime, and we want to show to our children when they get the elderly and our families, and we’re not able to do that,” Krystina Bizick said.

This could be due to changes or miscommunication with some of our former editors. If you haven’t received your RAW footage, please message us ASAP so we can send it straight away!”

“Everyone will get theirs back soon, and we’ll take care of it, and it won’t happen again. We apologize to everyone,” Carter said.

But since then, McMurray says she still hasn’t received her raw footage, even though she spoke to Carter and returned the same address.

“It was like pulling teeth to get anything out of him,” McMurray said.

As for Bizick, she just received her raw footage on Friday after we spoke to Carter, but says she’s missing key moments from the reception, among other things.

“It’s just been crazy and every time we ask for it, it’ll be the next day or that night, and it’s never there,” Bizick said.

Bizick is not alone.

“I always say these are my girls, and I protect them, and it breaks my heart,” Colella said.
